Chocolates Atelier - CHOCOLATIER S.A. is the result of four generations of our family, who started as farmers in the 1880s in Catarama, Los Rios , Ecuador. 

It all started with a 16 year old girl, Celsa, who was left by herself to manage the haciendas that she had inherited from her parents. With the cacao plantation deseases at the beginning of the 1920's, she sent her young children ages 7 to 16 to the city of Guayaquil to study and have a better future. The young boys had to provide for themselves while studying, and became professional engineers, doctors, and tradesmen. However,  Celsa's grandson, Jose,  came often to the haciendas to help out. He realized that the only way to help the farmers was to add value to their products. After studying mechanical engineering in Germany, he returned to Ecuador to start a cacao processing factory. This was in 1973.

In 2020, having already passed many more years of experience with alliances with farmers, a more specialized factory was built: Chocolatier S.A. This factory is the result of Celsa's  grandson, Jose, and his daughter, Leila, and both of their market experiences to bring specialized and the finest cacao products to most exclusive and demanding markets worldwide.
